This is a one day course that explores a range of issues related to pain management in patient care. The course addresses the physiology of pain; pain classification; psycho-social responses to pain; patient and carer perspectives of pain; pain assessment; pharmacology/pharmacokinetics; non-pharmacological methods of pain management; practical pain management skills. This course provides the same level of intensity as university courses, but with more focus on improving practical skills.
